Morton’s offer a number of maize
varieties, each of which have been selected for their yield and quality to suit
local growing conditions, these comprise:
Wholecrop Maize
Successful maize is not just a matter of yield, the key is quality. Quality
silage starts with quality varieties, suited to local growing conditions.
Maize for combining
Combining maize is new to Northern Ireland with the first farm crop harvested
in 2010 just outside Banbridge. It offers an alternative spring crop which
should be planted on good free draining and south facing sites.Morton’s sells varieties from two leading French breeders - Maisadour and Caussade.
Crimped maize
With crimped maize, only the grain is harvested, with a conventional combine
fitted with a maize picker header.
